Way to start 2009! All Zune 30gb (in the world) are having issues when booting up. It seems that only Zune30s are affected. The device stops at the loading screen and then nothing happens. Bummer :( If you own a Zune30, check it for yourself! I don't know how Microsoft would fix this since it would not even boot. Sad..sad day for zunes around the world, especially for those outside North America (no warranty if ever)
"Customers with 30gb Zune devices may experience issues when booting their Zune hardware. We’re aware of the problem and are working to correct it. The Zune Social might be slow or inaccessible. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your patience!"

Very weird! must have something to do with date stamps of the device, like Y2K scare.. I hope this gets fixed asap!

im currently experiencing this problem with my zune30g, i thought im the only one having this problem,(its a good thing to know that im not the only one but, it sucks.)problem is,the screen displays only the loading page until it drains its battery. When you recharge it, it just goes back to the loading page until it is drained again.and it really sucks. i hope microsoft will be able to fix this problem, asap.
ReplyDeleteI didnt noticed this bug until now, i just saw the news on yahoo. I tried to open my zune30, then it just loads the initial screen, some says that microsofts fix for this is to wait until january 1, 2009 (dunno what exact time) other fix is to open the zune(imo dont do it if you do not want to void your warranty).
ReplyDeleteBad day to start this year =( hope they fix this bug right away.
Cheers!
Happy new year! I came across the site in the search of the specific time Zunes in the Philippines would start working again.. I've read up on what happened..apparently its a bug in the Zune's internal clock/calendar that had a problem handling the end of a leap year. Microsoft says the problem will resolve once the internal calendar/clock gets to January 1, 2009. Allow the Zune to complete discharge by this time so that it'd turn off, then charge it again and it should be fine next time it turns on. :) Just not sure around when our Zune's should start working again...so far mine is still at paperweight status. :) Cheers.
ReplyDeletethey said at noon GMT, so that's 8pm here. this is very bad for Microsoft, they need to give us something for all this trouble.
ReplyDeleteI also experienced this problem with my zune 30gb and like the most of us, had to let the battery drain. Though I was able to start the zune's reformat process it froze when it was in the process of deleting everything and I had to let it drain its battery again. Should I be worried that I've screwed up my zune?
ReplyDeleteHappy new year na lang..lolz....
my zune just went back to life, thank god. What bad timing, I was about to plug my zune to our audio system when I noticed that it froze up at the start screen.
ReplyDeleteMY ZUNE30 IS ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!
ReplyDeletejan 1, 2009; 6pm philippine standard time
THE ANSWER IS SOOOOOOO SIMPLE.
>DRAIN THE BATTERY of your zune
>CHANGE THE DATE of your computer *forward the date eg.jan 2, 2009
>RE-CONNECT to your computer >FULLY RECHARGE it then...
>TADA! YOUR COMPUTER WILL NOW RECOGNIZE YOUR ZUNE AND
CONNECT IT TO YOUR ZUNE SOFTWARE...
i hope this solves other troubled zune users...
*bye trashbin, my zune now works!
